California makes some great whites, rosés, and bubbies. But most of the best value reds today come from Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, says wine columnist Dan Berger.

Napa Valley Vintners have launched VolunteerNapa, a community-focused initiative that encourages wineries to dedicate 24 hours of their company’s time to support community programs and nonprofit organizations within the valley.

It has been 105 years since the United States went dry in that failed “great experiment” we call Prohibition — and since its imposition in 1919 lots of changes have occurred in the California wine business, says wine columnist Dan Berger.
